WOMEN & INFANTS HOSPITAL OF RHODE ISLAND

Women & Infants, a non-profit hospital founded in 1884, provides essential services to women and their children regardless of ability to pay, including oncology, internal medicine, urogynecology, treatment of infertility, behavioral medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, an infant development center, and a Postpartum Depression Day Hospital.
While two-thirds of the infants in the state of Rhode Island are born at Women & Infants, it is the 'medical home' for almost 100% of the medically indigent women of the greater metropolitan area in which it is located. In fiscal year 2004, the Hospital provided $5.3 million in non-reimbursed care. In a state that has no charity hospital for these services, our mission takes on even greater significance.

As a highly specialized tertiary center, Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island has evolved into a vital resource for families living throughout Southeastern New England. Affiliated with nearly 20 hospitals throughout the region which transfer increasing numbers of patients to Women & Infants for oncology treatment, obstetric services, neonatal care, and other medical services, the Hospital is one of the region and nation
