Our mission is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for persons 8 years of age and older with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. We currently offer training and competition opportunities in 28 different sports to approximately 10,000 Special Olympics athletes around the state of Maryland. These programs are all offered at no cost to the athletes or their families.
