P141K

P141K is an organization of 4 cluster sites located in Brooklyn, New York. Our pre-K to 8th grade site is located in the Williamsburg neighborhood and serves students with disabilities in a specialized instructional environment with functional academics and social skills development. Emphasis is placed on intensive physical adaptations/habilitation and communication. In working to meet IDEA statutes we have three classes that participate in an inclusion program. The student population is 57% Black, 33% Hispanic, 7% White and 3% Asian/others.
The mission of our school is to provide our diverse student population with meaningful educational experiences in an inclusive, safe and challenging environment. It is our goal to move our students along a path that will help them to realize their educational and social potential, while providing opportunities that are structured to promote successful experiences.

A few years ago, under a technology implementation grant from New Visions for Public Schools, we formulated a technology mission. Our school retains a full time technology coach as well as a literacy/autism coach to ensure all staff receives on-going professional development and support. Our technology mission is to provide students with full access to language rich environments in literacy, social studies, science and the arts through the effective use of high and low technology tools. We seek to promote the greatest level of independence possible through the use of assistive technology leading to the benefit of increased self-esteem.
