CUMBERLAND SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS INC

Cumberland School Volunteers was founded in 1967 to promote and support volunteerism in Cumberland's public schools. In addition to registering volunteers, providing training and responding to staff requests for assistance in a variety of volunteer areas, CSV has also sponsored a number of programs over the past 37 years that would not have existed otherwise. Currently our program resources are focused on two: Reading Is Fundamental, a federally funded family literacy program requiring a 25% lcoal match and Just Friends: More Alike Than Different, a disability awareness progams for all 4th grade students in the district.
Cumberland School Volunteers (CSV), established in 1967, is a non-profit (501-c-3 organization dedicated to establishing and supporting volunteer programs in the Cumberland, RI public schools. Its mission is to promote greater utilization of volunteers by educators and to enhance the lives of children by building self-esteem and improving academic performance. Over the years, the organization has responded to emerging volunteer needs that were, in some cases, integrated into the school's instructional program. These included Child Find (a program for early intervention) and Sexual Abuse Prevention programs. Currently, Cumberland School Volunteers sponsors two programs in the elementary schools that would not exist without the organization's support: Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) and Just Friends: More Alike Than Different. It is for the latter that we are currently seeking funding.
