Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas will open in June 2007 to serve sick and injured children in the 46-county Central Texas region, and will replace the current Children's Hospital of Austin. Upon completion, the 480,000 square-foot facility will be more than three times larger than the current hospital. The Medical Center will include both new and enhanced children's programs and services and will feature environmentally friendly and innovative construction and care elements for patients and their families. Dell Children's Medical Center will be the preeminent resource for children's health care in Central Texas, and will continue Children's Hospital of Austin's strong community role as the safety net provider for children whose families are not able to pay for medical services.
